Press Release:
"Bubble Artist Duo Entertains Children Throughout Allegheny County, PA" Mark and Brenda Askew, the creative force behind Angelo and Marie’s Fantastic Bubble Show, a black owned business, fell in love with the art of bubble blowing over three decades ago.
"I knew we had something special when we were making giant six feet bubbles in a park in Baltimore Maryland. A huge immaculately clean and shiny 8 wheeler semi-trailer truck slowed down, backed up, then moved us. The driver got out and said, "'I just had to see what you are doing. This is amazing!'" When bubbles can stop a truck, you know you've got something worth sharing."
Mark became fascinated by bubble blowing later in life. He observed the bubble masters online and decided to reinvent the art of bubble blowing for the enjoyment of young audiences locally.
Angelo and Marie's Fantastic Bubble Show has as a growing audience of thousands and an impressive performance portfolio which includes consecutive performances at recent Afram festivals, the Reginald Lewis Museum, events for the Johns Hopkins University, the Baltimore Inner Harbor, the annual Artscape festival, several events in Mt Airy, MD and 5 consecutive performances at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, to name a few.
"After seeing us on six television news segments our sons said we were becoming local kids edutainment celebrities." Mark and his wife of 40+ years, Brenda Marie, decided to move their successful business from Baltimore, MD to Pittsburgh, PA. As new residents of Pittsburgh, they are now performing at various community concerts in parks and at festivals.
Mark explains why they made the move. “Pennsylvania enjoys a ranking of #20 among best places to live for seniors according to US News and World Report. The city of Pittsburgh won a ranking of #9 among best places to live in the US according to livability.com. The state's retirement benefits and tax advantages also made it an attractive alternative.”
When asked what keeps children coming back for more Mark replied, "I would say KIB (kid in a bubble). Yes, we put kids in bubbles and let them experience bubbles from the inside out. It's an amazing experience best caught on camera and enjoyed in slow motion. Following that we present an art of bubble blowing workshop which helps kids learn the art of bubble blowing.”
Mark reveals what satisfies him most while performing. "Seeing children play for hours at our bubble stations as they try to mimic the creations of the bubble artist. Its deeply satisfying to see children enjoying the wonders of bubbles."
